Items & Props Guide — All Tools & Defenses
Complete guide to items, props, gnomes, tools, shop, and equipment in Grow a Garden 2. Prices, effects, tier list, and how to get every prop.
Props and items are the backbone of your garden in Grow a Garden 2. They automate watering, defend your crops, boost efficiency, and let you customize your garden's look. This guide covers every prop, tool, and equipment piece available in the Prop Shop — what they do, what they cost, and which ones are worth your Sheckles.
Prop Shop Overview
The Prop Shop is your one-stop destination for everything that isn't a seed or a pet. You access it from the in-game menu, and all purchases use Sheckles — the same currency you earn from harvesting and selling crops.
There are four main categories of props:
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Defensive Props | Gnomes that protect your garden from thieves |
| Farming Tools | Sprinklers and watering cans that automate or speed up watering |
| Cosmetic Props | Decorative items to personalize your garden |
| Event Props | Limited-time items from seasonal events |
Unlike crops, props are permanent — once purchased, they stay in your garden until you replace or remove them. They never decay, and defensive props work even when you're offline.
If you're new to the game, check the Beginner Guide before diving into props. For a broader view of garden security, read our Defense Tips.
Defensive Props
Defensive props are your first line of protection against crop thieves. On public servers, other players can enter your garden during the night cycle and steal crops — unless you have defenses in place.
Gnomes
Gnomes are the primary defensive prop. They automatically detect intruders and kick them out of your garden. Each gnome covers a radius around its placement spot.
| Gnome | Cost (Sheckles) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Gnome | 500 | Kicks intruders within a small radius |
| Guard Gnome | 2,000 | Covers a medium radius, faster detection |
| Elite Gnome | 8,000 | Large radius, instant kick, scares off repeat offenders |
| Golden Gnome | 25,000 | Maximum radius, prevents re-entry for the full night cycle |
| Event Gnomes | Varies | Seasonal variants with unique effects (e.g., Frost Gnome slows intruders) |
Strategy: Layer multiple gnomes across your garden rather than relying on one. Place Elite or Golden Gnomes near your highest-value plots — especially mutated crops or S-tier seeds from the Crop Tier List.
Traps
Some props function as passive traps, damaging or slowing intruders before they reach your crops:
| Trap | Cost (Sheckles) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Spike Trap | 1,200 | Deals damage to intruders who step on it |
| Slime Puddle | 800 | Slows intruder movement speed by 50% |
| Alarm Bell | 3,000 | Alerts you with a notification when triggered |
Traps work best when combined with gnomes. A Slime Puddle slows the thief down, giving your gnome more time to detect and kick them. For full defense strategy, see the Defense Tips guide.
Farming Tools
Farming tools automate or accelerate your garden's core loop: planting, watering, and harvesting.
Sprinklers
Sprinklers are the most important early-game purchase. They automate watering across your garden plots, saving you time and ensuring crops never go dry.
| Sprinkler | Cost (Sheckles) | Coverage | Water Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Basic Sprinkler | 300 | 1 plot | Slow |
| Standard Sprinkler | 1,200 | 2x2 plots | Medium |
| Advanced Sprinkler | 5,000 | 3x3 plots | Fast |
| Industrial Sprinkler | 15,000 | 5x5 plots | Instant |
Priority: Buy a Basic Sprinkler as soon as you have 300 Sheckles — it pays for itself within a few harvest cycles. Upgrade to Standard once you expand beyond 4 plots.
Watering Cans
Watering cans are manual tools that let you water crops yourself. They're less efficient than sprinklers but are essential for precise watering and can be obtained for free via Active Codes.
| Watering Can | Cost (Sheckles) | Water Capacity | Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common Can | Free (starter) | 10 uses | Slow |
| Copper Can | 400 | 25 uses | Medium |
| Silver Can | 1,500 | 50 uses | Fast |
| Gold Can | 6,000 | 100 uses | Very Fast |
| Diamond Can | 20,000 | Unlimited | Instant |
Watering cans are especially useful if you're managing crops individually for mutation strategies — you can selectively water specific plots without triggering sprinkler coverage across everything.
Other Tools
| Tool | Cost (Sheckles) | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Harvest Basket | 2,500 | Automatically collects crops within range |
| Seed Planter | 4,000 | Auto-plants seeds in empty plots |
| Growth Accelerator | 10,000 | Speeds up crop growth by 25% in its radius |
| Mutation Booster | 12,000 | Increases mutation chance by 10% |
The Growth Accelerator and Mutation Booster are late-game tools that compound your income significantly — especially when paired with high-value crops during events like Blood Moon or Starfall. For more on mutations, read the Mutations Guide.
Cosmetic Props
Cosmetic props have no gameplay effect but let you personalize your garden. They're purely for style — but in a game where other players visit your garden, a well-decorated plot makes an impression.
| Cosmetic | Cost (Sheckles) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Garden Fence | 200 | Basic wood fencing around plots |
| Stone Path | 500 | Decorative walkway tile |
| Flower Bed | 800 | Colorful decorative flowers |
| Garden Lamp | 1,000 | Lights up your garden at night |
| Fountain | 5,000 | Large centerpiece water fountain |
| Statue | 3,000–15,000 | Various collectible statues |
| Seasonal Decor | Varies | Event-limited cosmetics (holiday trees, spooky lanterns, etc.) |
| Guild Banner | Guild reward | Displays your guild emblem |
Cosmetic props are low priority for new players — spend your early Sheckles on sprinklers and gnomes first. Once your garden is secure and profitable, decorating is a fun way to show off your progress, especially in guild communities. See the Guilds Guide for guild-exclusive cosmetics.
How to Get Props
Props are acquired through several methods:
1. Prop Shop (Primary Source)
The in-game Prop Shop is where most props are purchased with Sheckles. Access it from the main menu — no special unlock requirements.
2. Code Redemptions
Some tools, especially Watering Cans, are available as free rewards from redeemable codes. Check the Active Codes page for current giveaways.
3. Guild Rewards
Certain cosmetic props and exclusive gnomes are only available as guild event rewards. Joining an active guild is the only way to get these. Read the Guilds Guide for details.
4. Seasonal Events
Limited-time props appear during in-game events (Halloween, Winter, Anniversary). These are purchased with Sheckles or event currency and may never return — grab them while they're available.
5. Private Server Perks
Some props have reduced costs or exclusive availability on private servers. If you're farming seriously, a private server pays for itself through discounted prop prices alone. See the Servers Guide for the full comparison.

C-Tier — Situational
| Prop | Why |
|---|---|
| Basic Gnome | Only useful in your first few hours |
| Basic Sprinkler | Fine as a starter, upgrade quickly |
